Most nonprofits are very busy working on generating funds to help continue their work. Alabama Coalition Against Rape in no exception. As a national organization providing services for the public, they have their hands full. However in addition to serving the public they also provide training for police officer, first responders, and faith based organizations. The leaders of organizations such as ACAR are the true heroes and sheroes without a cape. Check out the "Know Your Status" commercial that was produced to bring awareness to the importance of getting tested for HIV.

We all know that crimes are reported and happen every day. But did you know: 

A violent crime is committed every 26.3 seconds.
A murder occurred every 32.1 minutes, a rape every 3.8 minutes, a robbery every 2.0 minutes, and an aggravated assault every 38.5 seconds.

This numbers are shocking. What's even more shocking is that aftermath. For example a senior who experiences a break in is often left to deal with the damages their property may have suffered on their own. "The Good Samaritan" is one of the organizations we worked with to bring awareness to their organization. Learning that this organization helps seniors with repairs to windows, doors and locks after a breakin is a resource that truly is a labor of love and helps restore some form of peace. It's hard to imagine having to deal with getting these items repaired after being a victim of a crime. Being a senior that has to be responsible for these repairs is even worst. We salute this wonderful organization that's helping people put their lives back together one door at a time.
